It’s very hard for me to believe that 15 years ago this month, I was living out a dream and backpacking throughout Europe over the course of 8 weeks. Along with two college buddies from University of Florida, this was our last bastion of true freedom before we entered the “real world” and joined the gainfully employed back home in Atlanta. With round trip flights booked in and out of Amsterdam, we embarked upon our journey, given nearly 60 days to experience the world in a whole new and unexpected way. The beauty of traveling the same distance from Georgia to Florida, we were sojourning our way from culture to culture…France to Spain…Italy to Switzerland…Germany to Austria. It all seemed so surreal. And it was.
Highlights included paragliding in the heart of the Swiss Alps outside of Interlaken, Switzerland, attending the 50th Anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France, touring the Mercedes, BMW and Porsche headquarters in Germany and meeting actor, Liam Neeson, and his late wife, Natasha Richardson, in Prague, Czech Republic. Needless to say, for all recent college graduates, I cannot recommend the experience enough. Get abroad and experience the world while you can!
