One of the unique benefits and excellent perks of working at a radio station is the ability to witness an inordinate amount of stellar live music. During my time spent working as on-air talent at KGSR Radio Austin, one of my favorite experiences has been catching acts in the intimate setting of the KGSR Music Lounge, located upstairs at the Emmis Austin Radio offices/studios.
Please keep in mind, performances in the Music Lounge are, by no means, only accessible by radio staff. Listeners can win their way in, via on-air contests and giveaways, and staff from our greatly supportive sponsors are typically in attendance, as well. Of course, the experience is made that much better given the complimentary food, drinks – and sometimes beers!
The ability to catch national acts such as The Head and The Heart, Gomez, Feist, Lyle Lovett, Jimmie Vaughan and Tori Amos, to name a few, in a small room with roughly 50 others, is something truly special and unique.
