Fairly simple and to the point today…in case you missed it, the huge news here in the Austin area from the past week is word that the infamous Austin City Limits Music Festival has now been approved for expansion to two weekends in a unanimous vote by the Austin City Council.
Beginning next year, the C3-produced event will be held October 4-6 and October 11-13, 2013 at Zilker Park. In return for the City’s agreement, C3 has offered to donate money for improvements to city parks, including Auditorium Shores.
In past years, C3 has been extremely generous, giving nearly $6 million dollars to the City of Austin and the nonprofit organization, Austin Parks Foundation, to spruce up Zilker Park’s Great Lawn, site of the festival, as well as other Austin-area parks.
Great, great news, if you ask me. An additional weekend of excellent live music, more tourism dollars into our local economy and another set of days to showcase our wonderful town.
So, get your dancin’ shoes on and prepare to rock for a second weekend in 2013! Hope to see you out there!
