Nothin’ like kickin’ off one of the most highly anticipated weekends ever in Austin, the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix Weekend, with a celebration of tunes from artists who hail from the Lone Star State and who have been makin’ us proud of our musical heritage here over the years.
With huge thanks to my friends over at KOKE FM (98.5FM and 99.3FM), including the one and only, Bob Cole, I was lucky enough to attend Formula Austin’s “The Best of Texas Music” Showcase at the tremendous ACL Live at Moody Theater this past Thursday night, along with best buddy and fellow diehard fan of Texas tunes, Spencer Kitley.
Hosted by Ray Benson and with he and Asleep at the Wheel acting as the backing band throughout the evening, a full slew of the best of the best from the Lone Star State took the stage and gave the crowd exactly what they came for – a rockin’ evening of killer tunes, fan favorites and an overall appreciation of talent from the great place we call home – Texas.
From the Quebe Sisters to Ruthie Foster, Jerry Jeff Walker, Pat Green and the Red Headed Stranger, himself, Mr. Willie Nelson, I cannot say enough about yet another excellent night at ACL Live at Moody Theater. Such great talent, all of’em. So very fortunate we are, once again, to reside in the Live Music Capital of the World – Austin, Texas.
Honestly, I could go on and on about the excellence of the experience and the love I have for the artists who performed, but I think I’ll go ahead and let the pictures do the talking. Thanks a ton to mi amigo, Spencer Kitley, for providing a good amount of the awesome shots below, as well.
Enjoy, y’all, and Happy Thanksgiving Week!
