Red Room Lounge: A Wine Lover’s Dream In The Heart Of Downtown Austin

On a late night not too long ago, a gathering of wine drinkers and sommeliers, once again, found themselves in the wine cellar of one of Austin’s oldest downtown buildings, doing what they do best – drinking and talking wine. As the night went on, cellar owner, Alex Andrawes, and sommelier, Bill Elsey, came to a conclusion…they would turn this niche locale into a low-key lounge focused on two things: enjoying great wine and relaxing while doing so. After announcing this to the group, there were several tumultuous seconds of contemplation followed by unanimous agreement and a small explosion. Shortly after, The Red Room Lounge was born.

In opening an underground, “Speakeasy-style” wine lounge, which seats roughly 35 guests, in the heart of downtown Austin, their muse is quite simple, know their limits and don’t come close to pushing them. Opening bottles, pouring glasses, drinking wine, these are things they do extremely well, therefore, they do them often. Alex and Bill would love for you to connect with The Red Room Lounge along the way.

If your curiosity has you wondering, The Red Room Lounge is located at 306 East 3rd Street, a stone’s throw from the Austin Convention Center and virtually right next door to the Vince Young Steakhouse.

Currently open Tuesday-Friday from 4pm to 12am and Saturday from 4pm to 1am, I highly recommend you stop in and see Alex and Bill and check out their amazing offerings of vino – 450 different wines by the bottle – priced anywhere from $35 to $12,000! Not to mention, they also offer wines by the glass, with an extremely creative and frequently changing list. Take it a step further and you are actually encouraged to take bottles of vino home, as well, considering The Red Room Lounge offers true retail pricing for all bottles to go.

Needless to say, the environment is easy, the mood is mellow and the wines are pretty damn cool!

The Red Room Lounge is also the perfect location for board meetings, private parties, or happy hour.

To find out more information on exactly where they’re located (since there’s no sign out front), for reservations (which are encouraged), and how they operate, email Alex and Bill at WineTeam@RedRoomATX.com or call The Red Room Lounge at (512) 644-1737.
