With huge thanks to local Austin-area musicians, great friends and rock stars in their own right, Walt and Tina Wilkins, Dulce Vida Organic Tequila was a participating sponsor of Walt and Tina’s 8th Annual “Live Free and Fly” Independence Day Celebration in the Texas Hill Country on July 3rd and 4th, 2013.
Benefiting an excellent cause, the Austin Harmony Project, enriching the lives of adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities through the power of art, music and community, this two-day extravaganza is one I will do all I can to never miss again!
The festivities kicked off in Fredericksburg, Texas with a tremendously fun Sponsor Party at the wonderful Fredericksburg Inn & Suites on Wednesday night, July 3rd, that included outstanding live performances from Walt, Tina and members of their band, the Mystiqueros, stellar catered food offerings and copious amounts of Dulce Vida Organic Tequila.
Independence Day 2013 kicked off with the annual Fredericksburg July 4th Parade marching straight down Main Street before an incredibly spirited crowd of all ages. Talk about “small town America.” Honestly, doesn’t get much better than this!
The celebration of this great nation, our freedom and independence continued throughout the day, just 6 miles up the road, in the bustling, lovable little hamlet of Luckenbach, Texas – one of my favorite places on the planet – where we gifted with live music throughout the afternoon from the likes of Uncle Lucius, the Tejas Brothers, Walt & Tina Wilkins with the Mystiqueros and so much more.
Throw in the annual Luckenbach “Fourth of July Lawnmower Parade,” plenty of Dulce Vida skinny margaritas and tequila samples, a crowd of well over 1,500 people and an absolute perfect Independence Day celebration was achieved.
Many thanks, once again, goes out to Walt and Tina Wilkins for their graciousness to host this outstanding event, to Abbey Road, the many performing musicians and the great folks in Luckenbach, Texas and the incredibly friendly staff at the Fredericksburg Inn & Suites, host of Wednesday’s Sponsor Party and our lodging host for the event.
Happy Birthday, America, and God Bless the U.S.A.!
Randall, I always enjoy getting this. Have a question—-a friend of mine has his 17 yr old daughter in town this week. She plays guitar and writes music. Any suggestions for a few good places for them to go this week to hear some good Austin music?
Thank you, Randall!!

Hey Dennis! Hope you had a great Fourth! Thanks for the kind words and support. As for my favorite live music venues in Austin, I would recommend the Saxon Pub, the Continental Club, Antone’s, the White Horse, the Broken Spoke and Rattle Inn. Just a few recommendations from my end. Hope these help! Have a great week. Cheers, my friend!
Hello Randall,
I am a student from UT Austin. My group and I are working on a non-profit report on the Economic Impacts of Historic Preservation in Texas, with the Texas Historical Commission.
We loved your photographs of the Fourth of July Parade at the National Museum of the Pacific War. We would like to add some of your photographs to our report, as this museum is one of the main historic sites in Texas. However, nothing can move ahead without your permission and we need your approval on the same.
I assure you that we shall give you the necessary credits.
Hope to hear from you soon..!
Regards,
Vishal.
Hey Vishal! Consider this my approval to use any of the photos you need for your report. Thanks a ton for the comments and interest. Cheers and HOOK’EM!
All my best,
Randall
